Pittsburgh Recomendations From This Weekend

This weekend I made an effort to try out some places I've never been and romanticize life a little bit. From this, I have three new places in Pittsburgh to reccomend.

Kards Unlimited on Walnut Street

Although this may be a Shadyside staple, I had never been inside this shop. Not only do they have a great book selection, but their gigantic card array and all the trinkets make it so cozy and fun to shop around. I was in here for at least 45 minutes and could have stayed for longer. My favorite aspect of this shop was the pairing of books with teas and candles to accompany them- for example the Wizard of Oz had a "Field of Poppies" candle with it, and Pride and Prejudice had a "Mr. Darcy" tea.

Redhawk Coffee Roasters on Meyran

I've been trying to expand my coffee shop rotation and Redhawk was one of the spots I've been meaning to visit. A short walk from my apartment, I just had a green tea with honey, but they have a great coffee selection and many delicious looking pastries I look forward to trying. This is a perfect location to sit and study or read a book, especially in the fall or spring when their outdoor tables are open.

Hocus Pocus on Meyran

While I was sitting at Redhawk I remembered that Hocus Pocus- a store I've always wanted to check out- was across the street. They describe themselves as an "occult emporium" and it feels like walking into a scene from Harry Potter. They have a huge variety of oils, candles, incense, books, herbs, crystals, jewelry, and much more. I had a ton of fun looking around and talking to the worker who was so knowledgable about every item. I ended up leaving with a few crystals and an oil aimed to help with anxiety.
